How was that selection made?
Looking at the market leaders With live chat feature on the market, we also found Crisp through Producthunt. After we’ve made a Spreadsheet with numerous live chat vendors, we defined the core feature and metrics we were searching for.
What did we use before?
We have Used multiple other live chat before, which shifted their attention from a live chat to an”all in 1 business suite”. Their live chat still works, but metrics that are important for us were removed. We have used those metrics for our monthly reports, and customer overviews, growth rates and more. After we had been in for four months those metrics disappeared and were replaced with other metrics. We have got a leaderboard for our staff members, which we did not use because we’re looking for quality service rather than quantity and the pricing seems to outperform the benefit. So our choice was apparent at that moment: we needed to proceed.
Chat log
We found 14 times background, 30 days History and history (for higher plans this is common), also here the price scaling was interesting. All live talks we attempted had that attribute, a few at higher price tagsothers combined with a badly executed search feature, therefore the history was not available. Together with Crisp, the unlimited history is already available with their original paid plan, and it not only ships with a fair price tag, but also their search works astoundingly well.
How many connections do we need?
First, we tried to answer that Question with another question”how many customers will talk with us?” – and that was wrong – we made that mistake once. We can’t limit on the contacts we make because we really wish to earn contact with them all. Unlimited contacts was what we were looking for (in a reasonable price tag). What we discovered were chats with 100 active contacts for $0/month which was quite nice, we climbed up that a little to 1,000 active contacts along with the price tag shifted from $0/m to ~$125/m or more (~$500/m). We’ve had that experience of price scaling for most of the solutions. As we did the same contact metric test for Crisp we watched something different:
So at Crisp, you don’t scale by use – which is huge! They believe the identical way we do in Storyblok, we don’t want to limit the user to the usage of the system (eg. Content entries or contacts), we want to scale because their staff scales. So at Crisp you choose a program and you may scale the amounts from 10 to 10.000 contacts (or more) with exactly the same price tag.
Trigger events / messages
Automated triggers are Utilized to Send a specific message on predefined events, eg. “a guest is on the exact same site for more than 30 seconds”. Those causes are a good method to help your audience with questions they may have. We use it on our pricing page because from time to time there are open questions regarding our pricing, maybe something is not covered in the FAQ section. This part is available in most solutions we analyzed and mainly available in the first paid plan.
Possibility to send campaign messages
From time to time we send emails Using our live chat. We think that it’s a fantastic way to retarget our viewers because we should be able to send pertinent content based on some metrics people live talks provide. In all honesty, we’re not sending many emails, because we also hate spam on the side. So we like to send certain emails to particular target groups and again: we really enjoy the execution in the Crisp customer. It is simple and satisfied our needs at a sensible price tag.
Number of brokers
The agent seats is kinda Interesting, it is something you can control. You could choose one accounts for the entire team (which can be cheap with most options ), or you could go for a single chair for every team member. Since we want to have that personal approach to our clients the notion of using one accounts for the entire group was dropped instantly. We have begun to compare the very first paid program against most of the high tier programs to observe how the cost scales again. The highest prices we found were about ~$155/m per chair where the scope was somewhere from $15/m to this. We had a look at Crisp again and saw that their greatest bundle has unlimited agents seats included. Also, their free strategy allowed 2 agents, which was excellent for testing. Async Load Css

Integrations
Everybody loves integrations. Integrations to Slack, Telegram, Zendesk, Bitbucket, or Jira – you name it. Most live chats offer integrations into the key stations. We do not actually use integrations that much, but the one we use the most is with Slack. Slack is the main communication tool in our company, we utilize it on a daily basis and included the majority of our resources – so we focused on how they operate and function with Slack. We tested some of these and most are actually working very well. We found one which has huge delays when messaging from and also to Slack which was a no-go for us. We reported that issue to them, but we don’t know if they changed it since we left six months ago. Together with Crisp the integration worked immediately, notifications came immediately and the whole setup was done in a couple of minutes.
Control the client via JavaScript
We are using the live chat not Only on the site but also in our application itself. Clients may want to report an issue or simply have a quick question about something, therefore the direct integration, and a option to initialize and hide/show the customer with JavaScript has been a must-have. It had been possible with the majority of live chats we have tried, the documentation of Crisp about their JavaScript SDK is clear and well recorded so that we got that operating in less than half an hour.

Pricing
This one is tricky. If you read The past few things you noticed that we compared the lower grade programs and feature with the highest tier programs, some are economical at the beginning and become expensive as you use them. After using Crisp for six months now, and switched from a competition because of the pricey”ending” and those feature we didn’t need but would have to cover. We are pleased to state we believe we got the best match for us, perhaps it will fit as well for you. We found that the list of 8 facets above is all you need to find your best match.
Wrap-up
We made contact with unbelievable great people (thank You!) And companies all around the globe. We might have had exactly the same experience with other live discussions too, but the price tag combined with the feature set Crisp does provide, we would and already do recommend it to all customers that are searching for a live discussion . We’ve upgraded to the Crisp endless plan some time ago, and are glad that we made that choice.
