How was that selection made?
Looking at the market leaders With live chat feature on the market, we also found Crisp via Producthunt. After we’ve created a Spreadsheet with multiple live chat vendors, we defined the core feature and metrics we were searching for.
What did we use before?
We have Used several other live chat before, which somehow shifted their focus from a live chat to a”all in 1 business suite”. Their live chat still works, but metrics which are significant for us were eliminated. We have used those metrics for our yearly reports, and customer overviews, growth rates and much more. After we had been in for four months those metrics disappeared and were replaced by other metrics. We’ve got a leaderboard for our staff members, which we didn’t use because we’re searching for quality service and not quantity and the pricing seems to outperform the advantage. So our choice was clear at that moment: we had to proceed.
Chat log
We found 14 days background, 30 days History and history (for greater plans that this is common), here the cost scaling was intriguing. All live chats we tried had this attribute, a few at higher price tagsothers combined with a poorly implemented search feature, and so the background wasn’t available. Together with Crisp, the unlimited history is currently available with their first paid plan, and it not only ships with a reasonable price tag, but also their search works exceptionally well.
How many connections do we want?
First, we attempted to answer that Question with another question”how many clients will talk with us?” – and that was incorrect – we made that mistake once. We can’t limit on the connections we make because we actually want to earn contact with them all. Unlimited contacts was what we were searching for (at a reasonable price label ). What we discovered were chats with 100 active contacts for $0/month which was quite nice, we scaled up that a bit to 1,000 active contacts and the price tag switched from $0/m to ~$125/m or more (~$500/m). We’ve had that experience of cost scaling for the majority of the solutions. As we did the Exact Same contact metric test for Crisp we saw something different:
So at Crisp, you don’t scale by usage – that is huge! They think the same way we do in Storyblokwe don’t want to limit the user to the use of the system (eg. Content entrances or entries ), we would like to scale because their staff scales. So at Crisp you choose a plan and you can scale the amounts from 10 to 10.000 contacts (or more) with the same price tag.
Trigger events / communications
Automated triggers are used to Send a specific message on predefined events, eg. “a visitor is on precisely the same website for more than 30 seconds”. Those triggers are a fantastic way to help your audience with queries they may have. We use it on our pricing page since from time to time there are open questions about our pricing, possibly something isn’t covered in the FAQ section. This component is available in most solutions we tested and largely available in the very first paid plan.
Possibility to send campaign emails
From time to time we send emails Using our live chat. We think it’s a good way to retarget our viewers because we ought to be able to send relevant content according to some metrics people live chats provide. In all honesty, we’re not sending many emails, because we hate spam on the side. So we want to send specific emails to specific target groups and : we really like the implementation in the Crisp client. It is simple and satisfied our needs at a sensible price tag.
Number of agents
The agent chairs is kinda Intriguing, it’s something that you can control. You could choose one accounts for the whole team (which is cheap with the majority of options ), or you might go for a single seat for every team member. Since we want to have this personal approach to our customers the notion of using one accounts for the entire group was dropped instantly. We have started to compare the first paid program against most of the high tier plans to see how the cost scales again. The greatest prices we found were about ~$155/m per chair where the range was somewhere from $15/m to this. We had a peek at Crisp again and found that their highest package has unlimited agents seats included. Also, their free strategy allowed 2 representatives, which was excellent for analyzing. Integrations
Everybody enjoys integrations. Integrations to Slack, Telegram, Zendesk, Bitbucket, or Jira – you name it. Most live chats provide integrations to the key channels. We don’t actually utilize integrations that much, but the one we use the maximum is with Slack. Slack is the principal communication tool in our company, we use it on a daily basis and added most of our resources already – so we concentrated on how they operate and function together with Slack. We tested some of these and most are actually working very well. We found one that has enormous delays when messaging from and to Slack that was a no-go for us. We reported that difficulty to them, but we don’t know if they changed it since we left six months ago. With Crisp the integration worked instantly, notifications came immediately and the entire set-up was completed in a few minutes.
Control the client via JavaScript
We are using the chat not Only on the website but also in our program itself. Users might want to report a problem or simply have a quick question about something, hence the direct integration, and a option to initialize and hide/show the client with JavaScript was a must-have. It was possible with most live chats we have attempted, the documentation of Crisp about their JavaScript SDK is clear and well documented so that we got that operating in less than half an hour.

From our experience, Crisp actually Ships with the focus on such chat experience for the clients. Which is exactly what we were looking for as we evaluated other alternatives.
Cost
This one is tricky. If you read The past few things you saw that we contrasted the lower grade plans and feature together with the highest tier programs, some are cheap at the start and be costly as you use them. After using Crisp for six months today, and changed from a competition because of the pricey”end” and those attribute we didn’t need but might have to cover. We’re pleased to state that we think we have the best match for us, perhaps it will fit as well for you. We found the list of 8 facets above is all you need to locate your own best fit.
Conclusion
We made contact with incredible great people (thank You!) And companies all over the globe. We could have had the exact same experience with other live discussions as well, but the price tag combined with the feature set Crisp does offer, we would and already do recommend it to all customers who are searching for a live chat themselves. We’ve updated to the Crisp unlimited plan a while ago, and are glad that we made that choice.
