How was that decision made?
Taking a Look at the market leaders With live chat feature on the market, we also found Crisp via Producthunt. After we’ve created a Spreadsheet with multiple live chat sellers, we defined the core attribute and metrics we were searching for.
What did we use previously?
We’ve Used multiple other live chat earlier, which somehow shifted their focus from a live conversation to an”all in one business suite”. Their live chat still works, but metrics which are important for us were removed. We’ve used those metrics for our yearly reports, and customer overviews, growth rates and much more. After we were in for four months those metrics disappeared and were replaced with other metrics. We have got a leaderboard for our staff members, which we didn’t use because we are looking for quality service and not quantity as well as the pricing appears to outperform the benefit. Our decision was apparent at that moment: we needed to move on.
Chat history
We found 14 days background, 30 days History and unlimited history (for greater plans this is common), also here the price scaling was intriguing. All live talks we tried had that feature, some at higher price tags, others together with a poorly executed search feature, therefore the background was not accessible. Together with Crisp, the boundless history is currently available with their original paid program, and it not only ships with a reasonable price tag, also their hunt works exceptionally well.
How many contacts do we want?
We attempted to answer that Question with another question”how many customers will talk with us?” – and that has been incorrect – we made that mistake once. We can’t limit on the connections we create because we actually wish to make contact with them all. Endless contacts was what we were searching for (at a reasonable price label ). What we found were discussions with 100 active contacts for $0/month which was quite pleasant, we climbed that up a little to 1,000 active contacts and the price tag shifted from $0/m to ~$125/m or even more (~$500/m). We have had that experience of price scaling for most of the solutions. As we did exactly the Exact Same contact metric test for Crisp we saw something different:
So at Crisp, you do not scale by use – which is huge! They think the same way we do at Storyblok, we do not wish to limit the consumer to the usage of the machine (eg. Content entrances or entries ), we would like to scale because their team scales. So at Crisp you choose a plan and you may scale the amounts from 10 to 10.000 contacts (or much more ) with the exact same price tag.
Trigger events / messages
Automated triggers are used to Send a particular message on predefined events, eg. “a guest is on the exact same website for more than 30 seconds”. Those triggers are a good method to help your audience with queries they may have. We use it on our pricing page because from time to time there are open questions about our pricing, maybe something isn’t covered in the FAQ section. This component can be found in most solutions we analyzed and largely available in the very first paid program.
Ability to send campaign emails
From Time to Time we send mails Using our live chat. We think it’s a good way to retarget our viewers because we ought to be able to send pertinent content according to some metrics people live talks offer. To be honest, we’re not sending many mails, because we also hate spam on the side. So we want to send certain emails to particular target groups and again: we really like the implementation in the Crisp customer. It’s straightforward and satisfied our needs at a sensible price tag.
Amount of brokers
The agent seats is rather Interesting, it’s something that you can control. You could choose one account for the entire group (which is cheap with the majority of solutions), or you could go for one seat for every team member. Since we like to have this personal approach to our customers the idea of using one account for the whole team was dropped immediately. We have started to compare the very first paid plan against the majority of the high tier programs to see the way the price scales again. The highest costs we found were about ~$155/m per seat where the range was somewhere from $15/m to that. We had a peek at Crisp again and saw that their highest package has unlimited agents chairs included. Also, their free strategy allowed 2 representatives, which was excellent for analyzing. Software Compatibility
Everybody loves integrations. Integrations into Slack, Telegram, Zendesk, Bitbucket, or Jira – you name it. Most live chats offer integrations into the key channels. We do not actually use integrations that much, but the one we use the most is with Slack. Slack is the principal communication tool in our company, we use it on a daily basis and added the majority of our resources – so we focused on how they work and function with Slack. We tested some of them and most are actually working quite well. We found one that has huge delays when messaging from and also to Slack which was a no-go for us. We reported that issue to them, but we don’t know if they changed it because we left six months ago. Together with Crisp the integration worked immediately, notifications came immediately and the whole set-up was done in a few minutes.
Control the client via JavaScript
We’re using the chat not Only on the site but also in our program itself. Users may want to report a problem or simply have a quick question about something, therefore the lead integration, and a possibility to initialize and hide/show the client with JavaScript was a must-have. It was possible with most live chats we have attempted, the documentation of Crisp about their JavaScript SDK is crystal clear and well documented so we got that running in under 30 minutes.

Cost
This one is tricky. If you browse The last few points you noticed that we contrasted the lower grade plans and attribute together with the maximum tier programs, some are economical at the beginning and be expensive as you use them. After using Crisp for six months today, and switched from a competitor because of that pricey”ending” and those attribute we did not need but would need to pay for. We’re pleased to state we believe we got the very best fit for us, maybe it will fit as well for you. We found that the list of 8 facets above is all you need to locate your own best fit.
Wrap-up
We made contact with unbelievable Fantastic people (thank You!) And businesses all over the world. We could have had the same experience with other live discussions too, but the price combined with the feature set Crisp does offer, we’d and do recommend it to all customers who are looking for a live chat themselves.
