How was that choice made?
Looking at the market leaders With live chat feature out there, we also found Crisp through Producthunt. After we have created a Spreadsheet with numerous live chat vendors, we identified that the core feature and metrics we were searching for.
What did we use before?
We have Used multiple other live chat earlier, which somehow shifted their focus from a live conversation to a”all in one business suite”. Their live chat still functions, but metrics that are significant for us were eliminated. We’ve used those metrics for our yearly reports, and client overviews, growth rates and much more. After we had been in for four months those metrics vanished and were replaced by other metrics. We’ve obtained a leaderboard for our staff members, which we didn’t use because we’re looking for quality service rather than quantity as well as the pricing appears to outperform the benefit. Our decision was clear at the moment: we had to proceed.
Chat log
We found 14 days background, 30 days History and history (for higher plans this is common), here the cost scaling was intriguing. All live talks we tried had this attribute, a few at higher price tagsothers together with a badly executed search feature, therefore the history was not available. Together with Crisp, the boundless history is already available with their original paid plan, and it not only ships with a fair price tag, also their search works exceptionally well.
How many contacts do we want?
We attempted to answer that Question with another question”how many customers will talk with us” – and that was incorrect – we made that mistake already once. We can not restrict on the connections we make because we actually want to make contact with them all. Unlimited contacts was exactly what we were looking for (in a reasonable price label ). What we discovered were discussions with 100 active contacts for $0/month that was quite pleasant, we scaled up that a bit to 1,000 active contacts and the price tag switched from $0/m to ~$125/m or more (~$500/m). We’ve had that experience of cost scaling for the majority of the solutions. As we did the same contact metric test for Crisp we watched something different:
So at Crisp, you don’t scale by usage – which is huge! They think the identical way we do at Storyblokwe don’t want to limit the user to the usage of this machine (eg. Content entries or contacts), we would like to scale because their team scales. So at Crisp you choose a plan and you can scale the amounts from 10 to 10.000 contacts (or much more ) with the same price tag.
Trigger events / communications
Automated triggers are used to Send a specific message on predefined events, eg. “a visitor is on the same website for more than 30 seconds”. Those triggers are a fantastic method to help your viewers with questions they may have. We use it on our pricing page because from time to time there are open questions about our pricing, maybe something is not covered in the FAQ section. This component can be found in most options we tested and largely available in the very first paid program.
Ability to send campaign messages
From Time to Time we send emails Using our live chat. We think it’s a fantastic way to retarget our viewers because we should have the ability to send relevant content based on some metrics people live chats provide. In all honesty, we’re not sending many emails, because we also hate spam on the side. Therefore we like to send specific emails to specific target groups and : we really like the execution in the Crisp customer. It is simple and fulfilled our needs at a sensible price tag.
Amount of brokers
The agent chairs is rather Interesting, it is something you can control. You could choose one accounts for the whole group (which can be cheap with most solutions), or you could go for one chair for each team member. Since we like to get this personal approach to our customers the notion of using one account for the whole group was dropped instantly. We’ve started to compare the first paid program against the majority of the high tier programs to see the way the cost scales . The greatest costs we discovered were about ~$155/m per chair where the range was somewhere from $15/m to that. We had a look at Crisp again and found that their highest package has unlimited agents seats included. Additionally, their free strategy permitted 2 agents, which was great for testing. Integrations
Everybody loves integrations. Integrations to Slack, Telegram, Zendesk, Bitbucket, or Jira – you name it. Most live chats offer integrations to the key channels. We don’t actually use integrations that much, but the one we use the maximum is using Slack. Slack is the principal communication tool in our company, we use it on a daily basis and included the majority of our tools – so we focused on how they operate and perform with Slack. We analyzed some of them and many are actually working quite well. We found one that has enormous delays when messaging from and also to Slack that was a no-go for us. We reported that difficulty to them, but we do not know whether they changed it since we left six months ago. With Crisp the integration worked instantly, notifications came immediately and the whole set-up was done in a couple of minutes.
Control the client via JavaScript
We’re using the live chat not Only on the site but also in our program itself. Clients might want to report a problem or merely have a quick question about something, hence the lead integration, and a possibility to initialize and hide/show the client with JavaScript has been a must-have. It was possible with the majority of live chats we’ve attempted, the documentation of Crisp about their JavaScript SDK is clear and well documented so that we got that operating in under 30 minutes.

“Crisp is the simplest way To speak with your clients. From sales to customer service, Crisp is designed to maintain your workflow easy. From live chat to email, Crisp provides one channel to reply to your users employing a simple team inbox where you are able to manage all of your user queries.”
From our experience, Crisp actually Ships with the focus on such chat experience for the customers. Which is precisely what we were looking for since we evaluated other alternatives.
Pricing
This one is tricky. If you browse The last few things you saw that we contrasted the lower tier programs and attribute with the maximum tier programs, some are cheap at the start and become expensive as you use them. After using Crisp for six months today, and switched from a competitor because of the pricey”end” and those attribute we did not need but might have to cover. We are glad to say we believe we got the best match for us, maybe it will fit as nicely for you. We found that the listing of 8 aspects above is all you want to locate your own best match.
Wrap-up
We made contact with incredible great people (thank You!) And businesses all over the globe. We could have had exactly the exact same experience with other live chats as well, but the price tag combined with the attribute set Crisp does offer, we’d and already do recommend it to all clients who are looking for a live discussion . We have updated to the Crisp unlimited plan some time ago, and are glad that we made that decision.
