How was that choice made?
Looking at the market leaders With live chat feature out there, we found Crisp via Producthunt. After we’ve made a Spreadsheet with numerous live chat vendors, we identified that the core attribute and metrics we were searching for.
What did we use previously?
We’ve Used several other live chat earlier, which shifted their focus from a live conversation to a”all in one business suite”. Their live chat still functions, but metrics that are significant for us were removed. We’ve used those metrics for our monthly reports, and client overviews, growth rates and much more. After we had been in for four months those metrics vanished and were replaced with other metrics. We’ve obtained a leaderboard for our team members, which we didn’t use because we’re looking for quality support and not quantity and the pricing seems to outperform the advantage. Our choice was apparent at the moment: we needed to proceed.
Chat history
We found 14 times background, 30 days History and history (for greater plans that this is common), also here the price scaling was intriguing. All live talks we tried had this attribute, some at higher price tagsothers together with a poorly implemented search feature, and so the background was not available. Together with Crisp, the unlimited history is already available with their original paid program, and it not only ships with a fair price tag, but also their search works exceptionally well.
How many contacts do we want?
First, we attempted to answer that Question with another question”how many customers will chat with us” – and that has been incorrect – we made that mistake already once. We can’t limit on the contacts we make because we really wish to make contact with them all. Endless contacts was exactly what we were looking for (at an affordable price tag). What we discovered were discussions with 100 active contacts for $0/month that was quite nice, we scaled up that a bit to 1,000 active contacts along with the price tag switched from $0/m to ~$125/m or even more (~$500/m). We have had that experience of cost scaling for the majority of the solutions. As we did exactly the Exact Same contact metric evaluation for Crisp we watched something different:
So at Crisp, you don’t scale by use – that is huge! They believe the same way we do in Storyblok, we don’t wish to restrict the user to the use of this machine (eg. Content entrances or entries ), we want to scale because their staff scales. So at Crisp you choose a program and you may scale the numbers from 10 to 10.000 contacts (or much more ) with exactly the exact same price tag.
Trigger events / communications
Automated triggers are Utilized to Send a specific message on predefined events, eg. “a guest is on the same website for over 30 seconds”. Those triggers are a good way to help your audience with queries they could have. We use it on our pricing page because from time to time there are open questions about our pricing, possibly something isn’t covered in the FAQ section. This component can be found in most options we tested and largely available in the first paid plan.
Ability to send campaign messages
From time to time we send emails Utilizing our live chat. We think that it’s a fantastic way to retarget our viewers because we should have the ability to send pertinent content according to some metrics those live talks offer. In all honesty, we’re not sending many emails, because we hate spam on our side. Therefore we like to send specific mails to particular target groups and again: we really like the implementation in the Crisp customer. It is straightforward and satisfied our needs at a sensible price tag.
Number of agents
The broker chairs is kinda Interesting, it’s something that you can control. You could choose 1 accounts for the whole team (which can be cheap with the majority of solutions), or you might go for one chair for each team member. Since we like to get this personal approach to our customers the notion of using one account for the entire group was dropped instantly. We have started to compare the very first paid program contrary to most of the high tier plans to observe how the cost scales again. The greatest costs we discovered were about ~$155/m per seat where the range was somewhere from $15/m to that. We had a look at Crisp again and saw that their highest bundle has unlimited agents chairs included. Also, their free plan permitted 2 representatives, which was excellent for testing. Integrations
Everybody enjoys integrations. Integrations to Slack, Telegram, Zendesk, Bitbucket, or Jira – you name it. Most live chats provide integrations to the key stations. We don’t really use integrations that much, but the one we use the most is using Slack. Slack is the principal communication tool in our business, we use it on a daily basis and included most of our tools – so we concentrated on how they operate and function with Slack. We tested some of them and many are actually working quite well. We found one that has huge delays when messaging from and also to Slack which was a no-go for all of us. We reported that issue to these, but we don’t know if they changed it since we left six months ago. With Crisp the integration worked instantly, notifications arrived immediately and the entire setup was done in a few minutes.
Control the client via JavaScript
We’re using the live chat not Only on the website but also in our program itself. Users might want to report an issue or merely have a fast question about something, therefore the direct integration, and a possibility to initialize and hide/show the customer with JavaScript has been a must-have. It was possible with the majority of live chats we have attempted, the documentation of Crisp about their JavaScript SDK is crystal clear and well documented so we got that running in under 30 minutes.

Cost
This one is tricky. If you browse The past few points you saw that we compared the lower tier programs and feature together with the maximum tier programs, some are economical at the beginning and become expensive as you use them. After using Crisp for six months now, and changed from a competitor because of the pricey”ending” and those feature we did not need but might have to cover. We’re glad to say we think we have the very best match for us, perhaps it will fit as nicely for you. We saw that the listing of 8 facets above is all you need to locate your best fit.
Wrap-up
We made contact with unbelievable great people (thank You!) And companies all around the globe. We could have had exactly the exact same experience with other live chats as well, but the price combined with the attribute set Crisp does offer, we’d and already do recommend it to all of customers that are looking for a live chat . We’ve updated to the Crisp unlimited plan a while ago, and are glad we made that decision.
