How was that decision made?
Taking a Look at the market leaders With live chat feature on the market, we found Crisp via Producthunt. After we’ve made a Spreadsheet with numerous live chat vendors, we defined the core feature and metrics we were searching for.
What did we use previously?
We have Used several other live chat earlier, which somehow shifted their attention from a live conversation to a”all in 1 company suite”. Their live chat still functions, but metrics that are important for us were eliminated. We have used those metrics for our monthly reports, and customer overviews, growth rates and much more. After we were in for four weeks those metrics disappeared and were replaced by other metrics. We’ve got a leaderboard for our staff members, which we didn’t use because we’re searching for quality service rather than quantity as well as the pricing appears to outperform the advantage. So our decision was clear at that moment: we needed to move on.
Chat log
We found 14 days background, 30 days History and history (for higher plans that this is common), here the price scaling was interesting. All live chats we tried had that attribute, a few at higher price tags, others combined with a badly implemented search feature, therefore the background was not available. Together with Crisp, the unlimited history is already available with their first paid program, and it not only ships with a fair price tag, but also their search works astoundingly well.
How many contacts do we want?
We tried to answer that Question with another question”how many clients will chat with us?” – and that has been incorrect – we made that mistake already once. We can not limit on the contacts we make because we really wish to make contact with all of them. Endless contacts was what we were searching for (in a reasonable price tag). What we found were chats with 100 active contacts for $0/month which was quite nice, we climbed up that a little to 1,000 active contacts and the price tag shifted from $0/m to ~$125/m or even more (~$500/m). We have had that experience of cost scaling for the majority of the solutions. As we did exactly the Exact Same contact metric test for Crisp we saw something different:
So at Crisp, you don’t scale by use – which is enormous! They believe the same way we do at Storyblokwe do not want to restrict the user to the usage of this system (eg. Content entries or entries ), we would like to scale because their team scales. So at Crisp you choose a program and you may scale the amounts from 10 to 10.000 contacts (or more) with the exact same price tag.
Trigger events / communications
Automated triggers are Utilized to Send a particular message on predefined events, eg. “a guest is on the same site for over 30 seconds”. Those triggers are a good way to help your audience with questions they may have. We use it on our pricing page because from time to time there are open questions regarding our pricing, maybe something is not covered in the FAQ section. This part can be found in all options we analyzed and largely available in the very first paid plan.
Possibility to send campaign emails
From time to time we send emails Utilizing our live chat. We think that it’s a good way to retarget our viewers because we should be able to send pertinent content based on some metrics people live chats offer. In all honesty, we’re not sending many mails, because we hate spam on our side. Therefore we like to send specific emails to specific target groups and again: we really like the execution in the Crisp customer. It’s simple and satisfied our needs at a sensible price tag.
Amount of brokers
The broker chairs is rather Interesting, it is something you can control. You could choose one account for the whole group (which is cheap with most options ), or you could go for a single chair for each team member. Since we want to get that personal approach to our clients the notion of using one account for the whole team was dropped instantly. We have begun to compare the first paid plan contrary to the majority of the high tier programs to observe the way the price scales . The greatest prices we found were about ~$155/m per chair where the range was somewhere from $15/m to that. We had a look at Crisp again and saw that their greatest package has unlimited agents seats included. Also, their free plan allowed 2 representatives, which was excellent for testing. Software Compatibility
Everybody enjoys integrations. Integrations into Slack, Telegram, Zendesk, Bitbucket, or Jira – you name it. Most live chats provide integrations to the main channels. We don’t really utilize integrations that much, but the one we use the maximum is with Slack. Slack is the principal communication tool in our business, we use it on a daily basis and added most of our resources – so we concentrated on how they work and function with Slack. We analyzed some of them and many are actually working very well. We found one which has huge delays when messaging from and also to Slack that was a no-go for all of us. We reported that difficulty to them, but we do not know if they changed it since we left six months ago. With Crisp the integration worked instantly, notifications came immediately and the whole set-up was done in a few minutes.
Control the client via JavaScript
We are using the chat not Only on the website but also in our application itself. Clients might want to report a problem or simply have a fast question about something, hence the direct integration, and a possibility to initialize and hide/show the customer with JavaScript was a must-have. It was possible with the majority of live chats we have attempted, the documentation of Crisp about their JavaScript SDK is crystal clear and well documented so we got that running in less than half an hour.

Cost
This one is tricky. If you read The past few points you noticed that we compared the lower grade programs and feature together with the maximum tier plans, some are cheap at the beginning and become costly as you use them. After using Crisp for six months now, and switched from a competitor because of the pricey”end” and those attribute we did not need but might need to pay for. We are pleased to state that we believe we have the best fit for us, maybe it will fit as well for you. We found the listing of 8 aspects above is all you need to locate your own best match.
Conclusion
We made contact with unbelievable Fantastic people (thank You!) And businesses all around the globe. We might have had the exact same experience with other live chats too, but the price combined with the feature set Crisp does provide, we would and already do recommend it to all of customers that are looking for a live chat themselves. We have updated to the Crisp endless plan some time ago, and are glad we made that decision.
