How was that choice made?
Looking at the market leaders With live chat feature out there, we found Crisp via Producthunt. After we’ve made a Spreadsheet with multiple live chat vendors, we identified that the core feature and metrics we were looking for.
What did we use previously?
We have Used multiple other live chat earlier, which somehow shifted their focus from a live chat to a”all in one company suite”. Their live chat still functions, but metrics that are significant for us were removed. We have used those metrics for our yearly reports, and client overviews, growth rates and much more. After we were in for four weeks those metrics vanished and were replaced by other metrics. We have obtained a leaderboard for our team members, which we did not use because we are looking for quality support and not quantity and the pricing seems to outperform the advantage. Our decision was clear at the moment: we needed to move on.
Chat history
We found 14 days background, 30 days History and history (for greater plans this is common), here the price scaling was intriguing. All live talks we attempted had this feature, some at higher price tags, others together with a poorly implemented search feature, and so the background wasn’t accessible. Together with Crisp, the unlimited history is already available with their original paid plan, and it not only ships with a fair price tag, but also their hunt works exceptionally well.
How many contacts do we need?
We tried to answer that Question with another question”how many clients will talk with us” – and that has been wrong – we made that mistake already once. We can’t limit on the connections we make because we really wish to make contact with all of them. Unlimited contacts was what we were looking for (in a reasonable price label ). What we found were discussions with 100 active contacts for $0/month which was quite pleasant, we scaled up that a bit to 1,000 active contacts and the price tag switched from $0/m to ~$125/m or more (~$500/m). We have had that experience of price scaling for the majority of the solutions. As we did the Exact Same contact metric test for Crisp we saw something different:
So at Crisp, you don’t scale by usage – that is enormous! They believe the identical way we do in Storyblok, we don’t want to limit the consumer to the use of this machine (eg. Content entrances or contacts), we want to scale as their staff scales. So at Crisp you select a program and you may scale the amounts from 10 to 10.000 contacts (or much more ) with the exact same price tag.
Trigger events / communications
Automated triggers are used to Send a specific message on predefined events, eg. “a guest is on the exact same site for over 30 seconds”. Those triggers are a fantastic way to help your viewers with queries they may have. We use it on our pricing page since from time to time there are open questions regarding our pricing, maybe something is not covered in the FAQ section. This component is available in all solutions we tested and mainly available in the first paid program.
Possibility to send campaign emails
From time to time we send mails Using our live chat. We think that it’s a fantastic way to retarget our audience because we ought to be able to send pertinent content according to some metrics those live talks provide. In all honesty, we are not sending many emails, because we also hate spam on our side. So we like to send specific mails to specific target groups and : we really like the implementation in the Crisp customer. It is simple and satisfied our needs at a sensible price tag.
Number of agents
The broker chairs is rather Interesting, it’s something that you can control. You could choose 1 account for the whole group (which can be cheap with the majority of options ), or you might go for one seat for each team member. Since we want to have this personal approach to our clients the notion of using one accounts for the entire team was dropped instantly. We’ve begun to compare the very first paid plan against the majority of the high tier programs to observe how the price scales again. The highest prices we found were about ~$155/m per seat where the scope was somewhere from $15/m to that. We had a peek at Crisp again and found their highest package has unlimited agents chairs included. Additionally, their free strategy permitted 2 agents, which was great for testing. The Bot

Integrations
Everybody loves integrations. Integrations into Slack, Telegram, Zendesk, Bitbucket, or Jira – you name it. Most live chats provide integrations into the main channels. We do not really use integrations that much, but the one we use the maximum is using Slack. Slack is the main communication tool in our business, we use it on a daily basis and included most of our tools already – so we concentrated on how they operate and function together with Slack. We analyzed some of these and most are actually working very well. We found one that has enormous delays when messaging from and also to Slack that was a no-go for us. We reported that issue to them, but we don’t know whether they changed it because we left six months ago. Together with Crisp the integration worked immediately, notifications came immediately and the whole set-up was completed in a couple of minutes.
Control the client via JavaScript
We’re using the chat not Only on the website but also in our application itself. Clients may want to report a problem or simply have a quick question about something, hence the lead integration, and a option to initialize and hide/show the client with JavaScript has been a must-have. It was possible with the majority of live chats we have attempted, the documentation of Crisp about their JavaScript SDK is clear and well recorded so that we got that running in under 30 minutes.

Cost
This one is tricky. If you read The last few points you noticed that we compared the lower tier plans and feature together with the maximum tier plans, some are cheap at the beginning and be costly as you use them. After using Crisp for six months now, and changed from a competitor because of the pricey”ending” and those attribute we didn’t need but would have to pay for. We’re glad to say we believe we have the very best match for us, perhaps it will fit as well for you. We found the listing of 8 facets above is all you want to locate your own best match.
Summary
We made contact with unbelievable Fantastic people (thank You!) And companies all around the globe. We could have had the same experience with other live chats too, but the price combined with the feature set Crisp does offer, we’d and already do recommend it to all of customers who are searching for a live chat themselves. We have updated to the Crisp unlimited plan a while ago, and are thankful we made that decision.
